Philipp Thöni

Illustrator and graphic designer Philipp Thöni has been working in Bern for years, co-founder of BlackYard. Pithy illustration with a fine wit, crisp logos and well thought-out graphic arrangements are part of his vocabulary. A visual decathlete.

«The subject for the bowling lanes comes from an instinct, and the peculiar format. For a long time I was looking for curved shapes that could occupy the whole space across the lanes. I like to develop small universes for a specific project. A world with its own laws and physical characteristics.»

A side detail: BlackYard's first tradition was bowling nights at the Bowling Center to put the camaraderie through its paces.
